During the spring of 1996, MnDOT is planning to upgrade <br />rest located on the western border of the City. This upgrade will provide an <br />)r the City to construct an entrance sign at that location. In addition, the City will also <br />ortunity to have a marker placed at the wayside rest, indicating some historical <br />ff the site or area. This historical theme will provide assistance in naming this rest <br />Some suggestions for the <br /> <br /> · Itasca Heights <br /> · Kelly Farm <br /> · Indian Encampments near Bowers Drive <br /> · Significance of the River Crossing <br /> <br />After the ED'C has decided on a theme, they should forward the rccommendadon to the City <br />Council for tltek approval. The EDC will also need to develop what information will be included <br />on any signage at the wayside rest. This information can be acquked from the Anoka County <br />Historical SoCiety. The EDC will also need to determine what type of entrance sign it would like to <br />have constructted at this site. I will then contact MnDOT concerning restrictions they may have <br />regarding the Iplacement of the sign. <br /> <br />I have contac~:i Mr. Delany at Arms~ong Kennels to fred out where his small entrance sign was <br />purchased fro~ and the cost to have additional copies made. This information should be available <br />in time for ou~ meeting. It appears that the City should purchase five (5) signs to be located at the <br />following site~: <br /> <br />· County Road g22 from Elk River <br /> County #5 (Nowthen Boulevard N.W.) from Burns Township <br />· County Road 922 (Armstrong Boulevard N.W.) from Burns <br /> Township <br />· State Highway #47 from Burns Township <br />· County Road//7 from Oak Grove <br /> <br />-7 <br /> <br /> <br />
