MINNESOTA :
SPORTS FEDERATION

AFFILIATED WITH
~asketball Congress International
Amateur Volleyball Association
National Sports Federation

The Amateur Softball Association is
'cognized by the United Swtes Olympic
7ommittee as the National Governing
Body for Softball

INTRODUCTION

Since 1982 the Minnesota Sports Federation has been the major
organizational force successfully planning and executing amateur sporting
events for over 200,000 kids and adults in Minnesota.

The mission of the MSF is to provide wholesome amateur/recreational sports
opportunities that promote fitness, personal growth, sportsmanship and the
development of life time leisure skills. We are a non-profit, non-
discriminating organization serving Minnesota through amateur sports.

The MSFwas founded to fill a statewide amateur athletic gap not adequatei¥
served by schools, YMCA's, YWCA's, or private health clubs.

The Governing Board of the MSF is a diverse group of people that are active
participants in the sports community as players, game officials or program
administrators.

The Minnesota ASA serves as the local association for the Amateur Softball
Association of America, which is recognized by the United States Olympic
Committee as the National Governing Body for Softball. The MSF also
conducts the Junior Olympic Youth softball program. The MSF is a founding
member of the Basketball Congress International, (BCI), the nations leading
youth basketball organization.

The Minnesota Sports Federation has been awarded national progress awards
for exhibiting the greatest all-around progress and growth in youth sports for
the years 1989, 1990 and 1991. The MSF annually sponsors Softball Night
at the Dome, a benefit for the Minnesota Special Olympics and promotion of
Minnesota Softball.

The MSF is committed to providing a quality statewide amateur program ane
to educate and train participants in the proper skills necessary to compete.

We are funded solely by membership fees and corporate sponsorships. This
has allowed us to operate year to year but provides no money for. new
programs or expansion of existing ones.

Our goals for the 1995-96 season are to expand and enrich youth
programs/services and to expand amateur sports programs for older active
adults. In addition, we are exploring with several cities a possible joint
venture for an indoor sports complex. The MSF is also exploring locations
for a softball Hall of Fame Museum.

11385-96th Avenue North · Maple Grove, Minnesota 55369-3678
(612) 425-0311 · FAX (612) ,'25-6121
