PUBLIC HEARING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey P1 '.agning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, June 4, 1996, at the <br />Ramsey MuniciOal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota to hear input <br />regarding a proposed ordinance to amend Chapters 5 and 9 of the Ramsey City Code regarding <br />parking and stodng vehicles and equipment in the Residential Districts. <br /> <br />Members Presen_[: <br /> <br />Chairperson David Bawden <br />Commissioner Benjamin Deemer <br />Commissioner Paul Holland <br />Commissioner Sharon Jensen <br />Commissioner Charles LaDue <br />Commissioner Michael Terry <br />Commissioner Bradley Thorud <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />CALL TO ORI~ER <br /> <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />Chairperson BaWden called the public hearing to order at 7:50 p.m. <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that since the Commission's last review of Chapters 5 and 9, the <br />proposed amendmentst were forwarded to the City Council for review. Council expressed concern <br />that the ordinan~ provides the opportunity for residents to convert a majority of their yard to a <br />prepared surface ~nd inundate the parcel with vehicle storage. Another concern expressed was the <br />need to have lansuage that prevents persons from storing vehicles and equipment for friends and <br />relatives. ~ <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik explain~l that language akeady exists in the proposed ordinance that prohibits the parking <br />and storing ofcorr~rnercial vehicles and equipment in the front yard. City Staff, in consultation with <br />Commissioner D~mer, added language to the proposed ordinance to prohibit parking and storing <br />of private use vehicles and equipment in the front yard unless it is on the driveway. A definition of <br />driveway was also ~dded to the ordinance.
