The county has retained the planning firm of
Sanders Wacker Wehrman Bergly, Inc. to assist with the study, which is expected to be completed
by fall 1997. One of the major components of the plan will examine the future planning and
development of pedestrian trails and linkages throughout the county.

A meeting with all municipalities and townships in the county has been scheduled for Thursday,
December 12th, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Activities Center in Bunker Hills Regional Park. This
will provide an opportunity for the consultant and county staff to learn directly about any issues,
goals or ideas you may have for future regional or county trails related to your commu~ty. It is very
important that each community be involved in this meeting to ensure that a well thought out
approach can be taken to the issue of comprehensive trails planning.

Our Parks and Recreation Department has utilized information provided by the municipalities and
townships to create a map showing all existing regional and local trails. Proposed regional trails are
also superimposed on this map. This should provide a good fo~rnat to discuss changes, refinements,
and potentially new linkages to the overall "system."

(continued)

Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer
