Environmer[.tal protection § 9.21 Subd. 2. Wetlands. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) uses the U. S. F~sh and Wilcllffe classification system for wetlands and cun'ently requires a permit for alteration of!wetland types 3-5 which are 2.5 acres or larger. Wetland types 1~, 2 and 6 and wetlands as small as one acre are recognized as having importance as storm sewer podding basins, but the DNR does not presently require permits for alteration of these areas. In Ramsey, the:re is an abundance of wetlands, some found along the edges of the sureams and rivers and the ol~hers in upland deprcssional areas. The wetlands are not concentrated in one area, but rather scatt¢r, cl throughout thc community. All Type 3, 4 and 5 wetlands of 2.5 acres or more as referenced in §9.21.02 have bccn mapped by thc DNR and Anoka County and shall bc identified on tlic official environmental map referenced in §9.21.02. A copy of thc Public Waters/Wetland map as prepared l~y for Anoka County is on file at thc City offices and is hereby adopted as part !of this Section. This City Cc, dc section shall apply to an impact area within 50 feet of ail Type ~, 4, and 5 Wetlands and Types I, 2, and 6 Wetlands one acre in size or larger. Subd. 3. Shoreland Overlay District: In order to guide the wise development ang utilization of shorelands of protected waters for the preservation of water quality, natural characteristics, economic values and the general health, safety and welfare, certain protected waters in the Ci~ have been given a shoreland management classification. These protected!waters of the City have been classified by the Commissioner of Natural Resources as follows: Natural Environment Lakes DNR I.D. # 1. Shack .~ldy 2-109 ? 2-110 2. Ford B~rook Sections 1 & 2 T32N, R25W * Lands withi~n Section I, Township 32 North, Range 25 West are subject to both the Scenic Rilver ordinance and Shoreland Overlay District provisions, whichever is more restrictive. The above shor~lands of the City are hereby designated as a Shoreland Overlay District. The purpose of the S.horeland Overlay District is to provide for the wise utilization of shoreland areas in order to prese~e the quality and natural character of these protected waters of the City. Boundaries of Ge shoreland overlay district shall be determined by scaling distances off the official environmental oPerlay map.
