CASE #1

BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY
By: James D. Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator

Background:

The flyers for the 1996 Business Appreciation have been mailed to the all of the businesses
located in the City of Ramsey. The flyers have also been mailed to companies that the City has
talk to about locating within the City or have worked with the City on various projects. In
addition the flyer has been sent to the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce for inclusion in the
July issue of their newsletter. Currently, we have received 11 teams for the event and three hole
sponsors.

This year the City will be providing a hat with the team sponsor for each foursome. In the event
that a twosome is sponsored then they will receive two hats with their company name and
identification of the City of Ramsey event. These will cost the event $4.00 each and will take the
place of the City providing any additional registration items.

The City has received interest from a team sponsor to provide for a hole-in-one contest, in
addition to that contest the City has acquired 8 dozen golf balls for use as door prizes. The
Commission should review how it would like to acquire additional door prizes for the event. The
Commission to donate money to the purchase a door prize such as the oversize driver that was
last years donation. The City also has a $3 credit in the pro-shop per golfer for the purchase of
door prizes. The Commission in addition to these prizes may want to solicit prizes from the local
business community. If the Commission decides to go forward with this solicitation then the
commission should decide which businesses each member will contact.

Commission Action:

Based upon discussion, the Economic Development Commission should make suggestions for
the planning of the 1996 Business Appreciation Day Event.

Reviewed by:
Economic Development Coordinator
City Administrator

EDC:07/11/96
