PUBLIC HEARING
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, December
6, 1994 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota
to hear input ;regarding amendment to Section 9.03.04 of the Ramsey City Code Entitled
Conditional U~e Permits.

Members Present:

Commissioner Terry Hendriksen
Commissioner Benjamin Deemer
Commissioner Paul Holland
Commissioner Charles LaDue
Commissioner Bradley Thomd

Members Absent:

Chah'person David Bawden
Commissioner Michael Terry

Also Present:

Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

CALL TO ORDER

Acting Chairperson Hendriksen called the public hearing to order at 7:38 p.m.
PRESENTATION

Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that the City of Rarnsey has been notified by Metropolitan
Council that the rprocedures established in City Code for issuing Conditional Use Permits are
inconsistent with' Minnesota Statute §360. Ramsey's proc~ures are inconsistent in that they do
not require notification of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) when a structure
is proposed to exeeecl 200 feet in height.

Commissioner Deemer noted that there is a structural height limit of 35 feet in the City Code.

Ms. Frolik added that if someone were to exceed that limit they would need to go through the
conditional use permit process. When and if that occurs, MnDOT wants to be made aware of
such.

Commissioner Deemer noted that there is a model airplane club that operates on the old airport site.
He advised that under FAA regulations, there are space zones imposed even for model airplane
clubs.

CITIZEN INPUT

None

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Commissioner Holland and seconded by Commissioner Deemer to adjourn the public
heating.

Public Hearing/Planning Commission/December 6, 1994
Page 1 of 2
