Chairperson Wagner suggested we review our options for cleaning up the area and formulate <br /> solutions to the problems. <br /> CommiSsioner Kent asked if there was a list available from business visitations with comments or <br /> concerns received from area businesses. <br /> <br /> Mr. ~mberg replied that there was not~ <br /> <br /> Ch~son Wagner stated that the last time a complete business v~sitation program was conducted <br /> was dm~g 'the airport controversy andmany of the questionnaires were somewhat ta~nted based <br /> upon the controversy at the time. <br /> <br />Chairperson Wagner suggested that we become more proactive regarding the ZIP Code issue and <br />develop a strategy, which may include having a petition at the Business Expo/Community Picnic <br />this ye~. <br />Commissioner Marquart then asked what the residents' feelings towards having their own ZIP <br />Code were. We have heard from Mr. Larson at the last meeting, but what about the other <br />residents? : <br /> <br /> Co~ssioner Stafld stated that we may wish to survey the residents regarding this issue. <br /> <br />Com~ssioner Nelson concurred with that statement and suggested that we could look at that in the <br />future~ <br /> <br />Ch~rson Wagner stated that the next goal may be development of a marketing plan for the City- <br />owned!industrial property. <br /> <br />Co~ssioner Stafki volunteered to sell it ffthat is what the City chooses to do. <br /> <br />Case ~#2 Marketing City-owned Commercial Industrial Property. <br /> <br />The City-owned property is the 39 acres just north of the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks and <br />east o~ Sunfish Lake Boulevard N.W. The along with the '12 acres north of the ParaBody site on <br />SunfiSh Lake Boulevard N.W. brings the holdings to 51 acres of commercial/industrial property <br />that i~now available for development. All of this property is within Tax Increment Financing <br />DistriCts, which will allow the City some flexibility in the amount of assistance available to <br />prosp~tive property owners. Based upon the need for the City to recoup the purchase costs, the <br />EDC Should help develop a marketing plan for ali of the property. <br /> <br />Mr. ~mberg provided copies of advertisements promoting cities throughout the State. These <br />ideas ~ould be used as a base our own advertisements. <br /> <br />Commissioner Marquart stated that some of these advertisements expound upon things that are <br />very ~bjective.
