Case g'/: Authorize Budget Amendment for Replacement of Drop Tank on New Fire Tanker Finance OffiCer Hart stated that when the Fire Department prepared the specifications for the new tan~er, every effort was m~de to keep the cost at a m~nimum. Part of the cost savings effc/rt was a plan to utilize the original 2,200 gallon drop tank that the Fire Department ~urchased at its beginning. The track committee's specifications included a bracket that ~ould hold and carry a 3,000 gallon drop tank that would be purchased at a later date, pl aming to utilize the 2,200 gallon tank until that time. When the track arrived, it was diseox ered that the original 2,200 gallon tank is much heavier and m~kes the folded size larger ~ tan the bracket it was intended to fit into. She stated there is an option to retrofit the r~w tanker to. fit the existing tank, although it may cost as much, if not more than replacing the existing tank with a 3,000 gallon fire service tank. She stated the cost of the new tang is approximately $800 and there would be $526 available from the City's Equipment l~eplaeement Fund to offset this cost The remaining $274 would be reallocated through a bu~tget amendment. Mayor Hardin inquired if the other drop tank could be kept for back up. Fire Chief KgPler stated they would keep it for training purposes and possibly for backup. He added th4t besides the money for retrofitting, the present drop tank is extremely heavy and it should!be so that two people can more easily lift it. Motion by lv~..yor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to recommend Council adopt the re~lution authorizing an amendment to the 1995 Adopted General Fund Budget for the purchhse of one 3,000 gallon fire service drop tank for the Fire Department Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen, Peterson and Zimmerman Voting No: None. Absent: Counci!memberBeyer. Case g8: Maintenance Contract Renewal for Civil Defense Siren System Finance Off ~cer Hart stated that the City of Ramsey has had a contract with Doradus Corporation ~or the maintenance and repairs to our civil defense siren system The contract renewal pri~ is $3,604, which is higher than we anticipated, however, they are our only resource for ~is service. There may be sufficient monies budgeted in other categories for 1995 in the Civil Defense cost center to absorb the $604 overage. Ms. Hart added that Chief Auspo[$ had checked with other cities and the County and they are also contracting with Doradui~. Councilmem~ber Peterson inquired if this amount covered parts or batteries to which Police Chief AuspoS replied no, this cost is strictly for service. Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to recommend Council app~ve the contract with Doradus Corporation for the 1995 maintenance of civil defense siren: receiver/decoders.
