CASE 1995 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDS By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik Background: Basically, CDB~ funds are limited to being used for projects that benefit the handicapped, senior citizens and lo~!o moderate income persons; planning projects; and historical preservation. The City of Ramsey~ estimated allocation for 1995 CDBG is in the amount of $34,769.00; deduct $1,000 for County administrative fees for a allocation amount of $33,769.00. The public hearing to receive requests and suggestions for use of the 1995 allocation was held on January 24, 1995. Observations:' The following requests were received from public service agencies: ACCAP Senior Outreach Commu~ty Emergency Assistance Program - NSCAH ,.- Meals on;Wheels Alexand~ House Rise $2,803.00 $2,000.00 $1,000.00 $2,000.00 $3,500.00 $3,000.00 $3,000.00 Total $17,303.00 (Note: Rise's r ,aquest is $1,000 over their 1994 allocation; Meals on Wheels' request is $1,500 over their 19941allocation; Sr. Outreach's request is $197 less than their 194 allocation; and NSCAH did not!apply for Ramsey CDBG funds in 1994.) The following p~ojects were suggested by City Staff: Preserv,~tion of Old Town Hall It appe~s that CDBG funds could be used as Ramsey's matching dollars for the $50,000.~0 grant that the City is considering applying for from the Minnesota State Historical Society to preserve the old town hall. Total $25,000.00 Pave Central Park Path A portiop of the 1993 CDBG funds were allocated to pave the paths at Central Park to make th~ various activity areas handicap accessible. Due to high project costs, only a portion of the paths were paved. It has been estimated that it would cost approximately $10,200 to pave the remaining paths at Central Park. (See attached map) Total $10,200.00
