MEMORANDUM

DATE: M~ch 2, 1995

TO: Mayor and Councilmembers
Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator
Glyn Huff, Building Official
Steve Lutmer, Building Inspector
SylVia Frolik, Zoning Administrator
Jessie Hart, Finance Officer ~]~
FROM: James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordina

SUBJECT: Buil~ding ActiVity for February 1995

Attached for your review are the building permit reports for the month of Febmary, 1995. As the
reports show, the City issued six new home permits which compares to the eight projected during
this period in the residential activity forecast. This brings the total single family home permits to
10 for the year. This rate of construction puts the City on a path to construct a total of 175 new
homes in 1995, whmh will result in a population increase of 595 people, bringing the total
population to 16,719.

During the last week of February, the City received the frrst set of plans for townhomes on the
Rum River Hills Golf Course. These units will be included in the month-end reports for March,
1995. As you may have noticed, the permit valuation report has changed slightly with the addition
of a line for both commercial remodels and multi-family units. These changes should allow us to
track commercial u~e changes for other required inspections such as fn:e and to have a clearer
picture as to the growth in the commercial/industrial areas. The multi-family line will assist us in
developing a truer picture of the housing opportunities in the City.

If you have any questions concerning these reports, please contact me.
