MCSchwanke addressed the land uses in the consultant recommendation. He pointed out tha[this recommendation increases the land for residential uses. Further, that this proposal plat. es high intensity uses near each other moving to lower intensity uses further west. M.r~ Terry Hendriksen, Planning Commission member, presented Figure 7 to Council which is the Planning Commission recommendation for land use and transportation. He explained that the initial goal of the Planning Commission was to plan for a roadway sy~em that worked with either or neither bridge location proposal. He then walked through the masons why the Planning Commission favors the western bridge location. Mr, Ken Wagner, member of the Economic Development Commission, addressed the exhibit known as Figure 8 which is the EDC's recommended land t~se and transportation pl~. He expounded that too much emphasis was placed on the bridge and stated the EDC rationale for their exhibit. . Schwanke and Mr. Smith provided a wrap-up regarding bridge location issues. C6uncilmember Peterson suggested additional discussions with neighboring communities re~arding these draft plans. C~uncilmember Zimmerman suggested more in-depth study on the County Road #~ 16frrunk Highway #47 intersection and Trunk Highway #47 corridor. Mayor Hardin requested a letter from MnDOT on MnDOTs roadway improvements in Ramsey on Trunk Highway #47. ~. Ben Deemer, Planning Commission member, introduced himself as a member of the la, st bridge task force 'that worked between 1982 and 1986. He discussed his opinion regarding land use versus transportation and the Planning Commission recommendation. City Administrator Schroeder provided some background on why the City initiated the land Use study and what issues will exist in the future. ~ouncil discussed what the various priorities should or could be. Councflmember Peterson asked for suggestions from Staff as to impact of various land use decisions on the various land parcels. Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to continue this · discussion to the March 13, 1995 Council workshop. ~otion carried.
