Bill smith reiterated that it is making a bad situation better. Mr. Williams suggested moving the trails to inside City streets. Bill Smith stated that in this situation, we are recommending a B trail which is separated by a grassy area. A resident on St. Francis Boulevard expressed a concern about the safety issues of Highway #47. Mayo~ Hardin stated that Council will be scheduling a meeting with Anoka County and MnDOT to discuss Highway #47. SteveSchwanke stated this is a process. The City has held a couple of public hearings plus this is another opportunity to take comment. He encouraged the residents to also submit written comment to the~City Council. The attention has been on roadways, etc. That is a result of population and jobs, and that places a demand on public services. We will continue to work with Staff and Council and added that public comment is appreciated. He added that this is a tough balancing act to determine how to provide roadways, trail ways plus more police service, etc. 5 Bill Smith stated he would like for the people present to bear in mind, we are talking about a plan for t~ year 2010 and beyond. Response has been helpful - this is not proposed to happen tomorrow. He stated that people here have spoken of privacy. He suggested thinking about what it wa~ tike before they came. The population was lower; how did those people feel when newcomers came and changes were made. There were farms here and gravel roads. Things will change and population will grow. The park and trail system is proposed to attempt to preserve that part of Ramsey that could be lost as more people begin to come. It's not to occur tomorrow and the impacts you feel are what others felt. Mr. S~hroeder stated that this issue will be back on the Council agenda on April 25, i995. Once CounCil approves something, it's submitted to Met Council for approval which will take some period of time. In October 1993, we submitted something to the Met Council that just received approval in January of this year. During that process, the Metropolitan Council Mil make demands of this City Council. The Met Council will demand updates of housing elements that has not been dealt with here in other than a summary fashion. He suggested the residents attend the April 25 meeting to know what's going on. Ms. Kurak stated if Council votes to maintain lines around Sunfish Lake, may I request they draw our houses in the area; put our homes on there so Met Council can see there are homes there. Mr. SChroeder stated that the maps we use are maps the County prepares for us. If there isn't a line shown there, we will add it. A resident suggested re-routing Highway #47 so a person doesn't have to drive by Schwartzman and SOns junk yard to get to Ramsey. Todd~Cook, 17359 Puma Street N.W., Ramsey, stated he is a Commissioner for the Park and Recreation Commission. This City is going to grow. People have been coming out here in the past and will continue to come in the future. The difference is if it is planned growth, the City will be able to accommodate youth and adults.
