I I I I I I I I I I CASE NEW HIRES By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer Background: Through recruitment(efforts, there has been a list created of people who meet the criteria for joining the Fu'e Department~ Th~s hst ~s compiled of mdiwduals who have been ~nterv~ewed and tested, and is split into daytJ~ne and evening responders. There is currently no one on the daytime waiting list and I3 on the evening waiting list. It has been determin~xl that a goal of 30 fire fighters is an adequate number. The current roster includes 27 fire fight~ers; 17 who respond only during the evening hours (4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.); 9 who respond durin~g the day time hours (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.); and 1 who responds between the hours of 11:00 plm. and 1:00 p.m. It is the opinion of Fire Chief Dean Kapler and Assistant Fire Chief Tom Hotter that the remaining three positions be filled with individuals who can respond during the d~ ytime hours (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.n~). Brian Poidinger whb has been on the evening waiting list for approxin'~ately 1 year, recently notified the City th~ his hours have changed and that he can now respond during the daytime hours. His name hasibeen moved from the evening waiting list to the daytime waiting list. Jayme Spence, who has been with the fire department since its inception, will be moving soon to Watertown, South Dakota. With his departure is an opening in the evening fire fighter compIement. Craig I~y is the next eligible individual on the evening waiting list. Recommendation:i Staff recommends th_at Brian Poidinger and Craig Lecy be offered the positions of Volunteer Fire Fighters with the R~msey Fire Department. Applications of Mr. Poidinger and Mr. Lecy are attached. Mr. Poidinger is available to fill one of the openings for the daytime hours (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and Mr..I_~rcy will be replacing the evening position that Jayme Spence is leaving. This will bring the total ~ltaffing to 28, with the additional two positions to be filled with daytime responders, when av~lable. Committee Actions Motion to recommend that Council offer the position of Volunteer Fire Fighter to Brian Poidinger and Craig Lecy.
