OF <br />IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY POSITION ANALYSIS <br /> <br /> Police Technician <br /> <br /> Police <br /> <br />Police Chief <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br /> Provide clerical skills, administrative assistance and assist in the coordination of the police <br /> department r~cord keeping and public assistance functions. <br /> <br />RESPONSIBILItIEs: <br />A. Maintain police r~cords. <br />B. Serve as seconda~-y, receptionist for phones and walk-ins. <br />C. Communicate vi~ police radio with patrol officers. <br />D. Perform other dttties as assigned (within the ability and resources of the Police Technician) at <br /> the verbal or written direction of the Police Supervisor(s) or City Administrator. <br /> <br />TASKS RELATED TO RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> <br />Maintain police ~ecords. <br />1. Forward vi~t computer information to State and Federal agencies. <br />2. Perform computer entries of all calls for service including criminal offense reports and <br /> arrest repo,'ts. <br />3. Record, up~ate and monitor a variety of department computer programs. <br />4. Complete igtegrity and validation reports as required by State and Federal agencies. <br />5. Update proi~er ~es to reflect criminal and traffic court dispositions. <br />6. Operate MINCIS/NCIC network programs under certification guidelines as terminal <br /> operator. <br /> <br />B. Serve as second~'y receptionist for phones and walk-ins. <br /> 1. Answer in~:o' ' ming police lines when necessary and resolves callers' queries or direct <br /> caller to other departmental personnel as required. <br /> 2. Complete ~alls for service forms when applicable and/or direct basic information to other <br /> personnel for follow-up actions. <br /> 3. Greet wall~,~-ins who are seeking police assistance and resolve as able to direct persons to <br /> other pohce personnel. <br /> <br />C. Communicate vi~t police radio with patrol officers. <br /> 1. Using polite base station radiO,' make contact with patrol, investigative and supervisors to <br /> forward information as required. <br /> <br />D. Perform other dgties as assigned (within the ability and resources of the Police Technician) at <br />the verbal or x0ritten direction of the Police Supervisor(s) or City Administrator, or upon <br />provision of w~k direction through the Records Manager. <br /> I, Prepare and type police department forms. <br /> 2.
