I I I I I I I I I I NOTE PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES [ The Committee n~ted the following Planning Commission minutes: 1) Planning Commission Public Hearing and regular meeting minutes dated March 7, 1995 COMMISSION BUSINESS Case 4/1: COnsider Philanthropic Proposal from Ace Solid Waste Parks/Utilities St~Pervisor Boos introduced Mr. Denny Fredrickson, General Manager for Ace Solid Waste.' Mr. Fredrickson Stated that Ace has quite a few customers in the City of Ramsey; therefore, he is presenting fi program which would allow Ace to give back to the community. He summarized the p. rogram as follows: For every net new customer, Ace will donate $5 to the parks, or something like that. Mr. Fredrickson felt that where the money goes should be flexible so that it could be channeled to where it's needed the most. He elaborated on a plan he developed in the City of Savage called "Trees in the Park". Mr. Boos suggesied that maybe Ace's contribution could be more tangible/recognizable instead of just puffing the money into a "pot". Mr. Fredrickson ~iterated they are flexible. Mr. Boos inquired about the "kick-off" time. Mr. Fredrickson ~eplied the sooner the better. Chairperson Hetland suggested May 1. Commissioner COok suggested purchasing trash receptacles with some of the money. Mr. Fredrickson explained that rather than his company actually purchasing the item, the City would be issued a check. Mr. Boos suggested that maybe Ace could present one of those "giant-size" checks to the Park Commissiori. Commissioner Cook suggested an article relating to this plan could be placed in the Ramsey Resident. Case #2: R4~view Sketch Plan for City of Ramsey's Business Park Parks/Utilities Stlpervisor Boos stated that the Business Park is a subdivision sponsored by the City; therefore, park dedication is not required. City Administrat4>r Schroeder described the area of the approximately 50 acres that the City owns. The City i~ platting approximately 13 of these acres into three lots to accommodate new industrial l~usinesses. The three companies scheduled to build, thus far in the Business Park, !are Trend Scientific, Command Corporation and Carbon Product Technologies. I-~e explained that the issue is to complete the plat, as well as to build streets. He state4~ the lots would receive public access from McKinley and Uranium Streets which are being Constructed by the City with tax increment financing revenues to promote Park and Recreation Commission/April 13, 1995 ~ Page 3 of 9 ,37
