Elk iv r residents cannot park vehicles larger than 7,000 pounds on public property in the <br />residential district (i.e. they are permitted to park vehicles larger than 7,000 pounds on their private <br />property). Truck - tractors and/or semi trailers may be parked in the rural residential district but not <br />in the urban residential district. <br />Lino Lakes residents are restricted from storing or parking vehicles on their private property in <br />excess of 11,075 pounds gross weight unless a permit is obtained that complies with the following <br />conditions: Unit is not parked more than 72 hours in a 7 day period, unit is parked behind the <br />front of the dwelling, no more than one permit per residence, no idling of engine while truck is <br />parked, truck must be parked a minimum of 150 feet from the nearest lot line, tractor and trailer <br />will remain connected <br />Maple Grove residents are restricted from having more than one truck in excess of 12,000 pounds <br />parked on their property. <br />Five of the seven communities surveyed allow for the storage of at least one vehicle larger than one <br />ton, including truck- tractors, on private residential property. <br />Recommendation: <br />City Staff is recommending that City Council consider the following options: <br />1. Direct staff to propose an ordinance amendment to amend regulations for storing <br />commercial vehicles on residential property based on the results of the area survey. <br />During the interim, property owners in violation of the current ordinance should be <br />logged with any enforcement action delayed until the new ordinance is in place. <br />z•YC <br />2. Direct staff to continue to enforce the current ordinance and accept applications for <br />conditional use permits to store commercial vehicles on residential property. Each <br />applicant will be considered on a case by case basis. <br />-or- <br />3.
