Schroeder, City Administrator <br />Background: <br />Early in 1993, tt`e Council began efforts to react to the space needs of this organization. <br />For your edificathon, I have compiled the calendar of events (minus staff memorandums <br />and meetings) rel6ting to this issue since May 1993, as follows: <br />f <br />05/2 <br />i <br />Council hued BKPR for space needs study <br />07/30/93 <br />j First draft study concepts complete <br />04/26/94 <br />1 Presentation by BKPR to Finance Committee on final concepts and <br />budgets <br />i <br />06/14/94 <br />ouncil authorized negotiation for purr ase o 14100 Jaspar <br />06/28/94 <br />Council authorized 10,000 purchase and $280,000 remodeling of <br />14100 Jaspar <br />08/22/94 <br />Council authorized closing on 14100 Jaspar <br />09/01/94 <br />losing held on Jaspar <br />09/12/94 <br />Council authorized proceeding on Public Works remodeling at <br />14100 Jaspar <br />11/22/94 <br />Council authorized partial use of 1 100 Jaspar for Police <br />Department storage <br />03/14/95 <br />Council informed o Public Works remodeling progress and <br />upcoming proposal for use of Community Room for Police <br />Department space <br />05/23/95 <br />Request to Council for consideration of City Hall remodeling <br />06/07/95 <br />Memorandum to Council on remodeling options progress <br />06/13/95 <br />Proposal requested for new construction costs <br />06/21/95 <br />' onstruction estimate received <br />It is interesting tofrecall that less than two months elapsed between the completion of the <br />needs analysis and Council authorization of a purchase of an improved Public Works <br />facility. This facility (minus site work) should be complete by July 1995. <br />Council was informed in March 1995, of the staff intent to consider soft remodeling of City <br />Hall for an improved Police Department space.
