Councilmember ~Zimmerman stated he did understand.
Councilmembetl'Peterson inquired if Council felt that actions have allegedly occurred that
Mr. Gromberg seeds to be held accountable for. He inquired if Council felt that these
issues deal specifically with Mr. Gromberg.
Councilmember €Zimmerman felt that some things can only be answered by Mr. Gromberg.
Councilmember` Peterson inquired if it's Mr. Gromberg, or the comprehensive plan as a
whole.
Councilmember;Zimmerman stated that he perceives there'has been some screw -ups in the
process of this a6d he feels that Mr. Gromberg is at the heart of most of this.
CouncilmemberBeyer agreed with Councilmember Zimmerman. She added that Council
was hearing co plaints on these kinds of things last year. She suggested it does not have
to be handled in closed meeting.
Councilmember'lPeterson stated he would vote for a closed meeting with AFSCME Union
representation and the City Attorney present.
Mayor Hardin in luired if Councilmember Peterson felt that should be done.
Councilmember Peterson responded if they can provide information, he should not have to
be here to take plbtshots.
Councilmember Beyer reminded Council of the malfeasance charge and suggested that Mr.
Gromberg should have a chance to speak to the charges. The attorney should. have a
chance to revievi them and the Union should be present too.
Mayor Hardin suggested that any one who has charges should give them, in writing, to the
City Administratpr and the City Attorney before a meeting.
Mr. Schroeder stated that if we follow that route, we will be closing this meeting and
reconvening again.
Councilmember; Peterson inquired "do we want to find out what went awry with the
comprehensive plan, or specifics on Mr. Gromberg ". If it is specifics with Mr. Gromberg,
he should be givin a chance to prepare a defense - it's the only fair thing for him.
Mayor Hardin inquired if Councilmember Peterson is talking about specific charges, not
cost estimates, ego.
Councilmember Peterson replied he is not talking about specific charges.
Councilmember eahen inquired if that would satisfy the Planning Commission.
Councilmember Oeterson felt it would make them happy.
Councilmember I3eyer answered yes, it would make them happy.
Councilmember IPeterson wondered if there is a chance the City Attorney can say these
charges are unsuistantiated. People have to bring specific instances.
F ( 5
City Council /May 10, 1995
