The City iss~aed 17 permits for single family dwellings and 4 permits for townhomes at the Rum River Hills Oolf Course. This keeps the City on track to complete the construction of 194 new homes in 1995, compared to the projected construction of 180 new homes. It appears that the lowering of the federal reserve interest rate will have the desired effect of increasing new home construction. During June, the City issued the final 4 permits for townhomes on the Rum River Golf Course completing this sdbdivision. The sale and development of these lots in under 6 months may indicate that there is a strong market for this type of multi-family development. These favorable market conditions [, may result in the City receiving additional proposals from land-owners to construct townhome developments. If this trend proves to be accurate, the City will need to continue to evaluate each project on their own merits, as was the case with the Rum River Hills project, to ensure that the developments will have a positive impact upon the community.
