This $105,000 expenditure from the Landfill Trust Fund is
intended to facilitate the purchase and/or development of the 35 acres east of the existing
Central Park, or fund the lighting of ballfields 3 and 4 and other improvements to Central
Park wl~ich could include additional parking and tennis courts. Readers of this text will
also not{ that Item #15, in 1998, may also assist with this initiative.

Titterud Parking Lot and Tennis Court Light Improvements. Completing the
$120,000 projected expenditure from the Landfill Trust Fund in 1996 would be $15,000
allocatex~l to pave both the upper and lower parking lots at Tittered Park and add a timer to
the existing lights at the tennis court. The parks two existing sand parking lots receive a
s~gmficant amount of actiwty. Currently the lots require frequent maintenance to remove
rots. A~sthetics is also a concern and paving may result in a safer parking lot environment.
Blacktop also aids in access to the park by persons with mobility impairments. A timer for
the existing lights will allow players to activate the lights on an on-demand basis, rather
then hax~ them come on automatically every night without regard for their need. (Motion
detectorilighting will also be explored.) In conjunction with this a security light would be
added tO the comer of the tennis court to light the playground, picnic area and the lower
parking lot.

Resurfa~ce Courts. This $3,500 General Fund expenditure will rectify the cracks in the
court surface and re-color the surface which will be the first significant maintenance the
court ha~ received in approximately 10 years.

Flintwo0d Terrace Playground. West of Dysprosium Street, off of 142nd Avenue,
will be t~e site for this $32,000 improvement consisting primarily of play equipment. It's
projectex$ that the magnitude of the playground will be similar to Emerald Pond Park's. All
the residents in the effected area were invited to a neighborhood meeting to discuss the
expendi ,rare and what might be in the park. Those comments will be used when selecting
the play iequipment, and in addition, a couple different families volunteered to select the
specific equipment.

School Rink Replacement. As a result of the grading and site improvements for the
RamseylElementary School expansion, both rinks were demolished. The rinks are
intended, to be replaced in the fall of 1995 for the 1995/1996 skating season. The School
District has agreed to fund the replacement of one fink with the City replacing the other.
The City, s half (projected at $10,000) is intended to be funded by Park Trust fund interest
earnings!if available, as the rinks supply recreation to many users outside of the Sunfish
Lake district.

Emerald Pond Park Phase II.' Emerald Pond Park has received $112,000 in
improvements to date. Approximately $106,000 is proposed for Phase II or for other
improvements in the area. Additional landscaping is needed for the park, as well as
irrigatiofl and possibly a larger shelter near the ballfield. Residents have also requested a
basketbat~l standard be placed at the end of the parking lot. Another improvement that could
be consRlered for this district may be a short boardwalk through Hunters Hill Park to
ChestnutiHills 5th.
