There have been changes based · I upon ~nformal~comments received after the last time this plan was before Council. The locker rooms ~e larger and the stairway to the lower level has been moved to facilitate this. The training room has shrunk as a result. A public report room has been added as well within the lob~'y area. As a result of lhese changes, we surveyed the Police Department once again for "final" ideas. The ide0s that will be integrated include the following: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) 10) ipitch the garage floor iensure extra electrical outlets in work station room iensure sufficient HVAC in copy room (labeled file room on the plan) and iwall off this room from the balance of the clerical space !ensure extra soundproofing in the interview rooms ?emove actual doors from clerical space to interior hallway leaving the ~ames provide two-way mail slots on clerical/hall wall ~entitle space next to unisex rest room "closet" ;add a second exit from ~aining room Olace large double doors between the snowmobile area and the interior anfinished space ~telete the public report room There have als0 been suggestions to: 1) relocate locker room doors ~nake an intoxilizer room from the unisex bathroom move the workstation door The most con~oversial issue has been the public report room. While it would, in fact, be nice to have, t~e Chief doesn't feel it would be used even as much as once a day and alternatives ex~st elsewhere in the building. It also impacts the clerical area. Therefore, unless Council idisagrees, it will be deleted as noted above. The Chief also doesn't believe we will be mal~ng the personnel/equipment/operations investment to justify the intoxilizer room. The door locations will be worked out in final design. I have been talking with design-build finns regarding our process. As part of a design- build with no amendments in the plan beyond code compliance, the architectural/e~:gineering will be under $15,000. At this time, we could bid out the project with those fees:included or we could complete the construction floor plans and bid those out. The first would be publicly bid. The second option would result in us receiving service proposals, completing that phase and bidding that.
