Schroeder, City Administrator <br /> <br />Enclosed is the latest schematic for the police building. There have been changes based <br /> · I <br />upon ~nformal~comments received after the last time this plan was before Council. The <br />locker rooms ~e larger and the stairway to the lower level has been moved to facilitate this. <br />The training room has shrunk as a result. A public report room has been added as well <br />within the lob~'y area. <br /> <br />As a result of lhese changes, we surveyed the Police Department once again for "final" <br />ideas. The ide0s that will be integrated include the following: <br /> <br />1) <br />2) <br />3) <br /> <br />4) <br />5) <br /> <br />6) <br />7) <br />8) <br />9) <br /> <br />10) <br /> <br />ipitch the garage floor <br />iensure extra electrical outlets in work station room <br />iensure sufficient HVAC in copy room (labeled file room on the plan) and <br />iwall off this room from the balance of the clerical space <br />!ensure extra soundproofing in the interview rooms <br />?emove actual doors from clerical space to interior hallway leaving the <br />~ames <br />provide two-way mail slots on clerical/hall wall <br />~entitle space next to unisex rest room "closet" <br />;add a second exit from ~aining room <br />Olace large double doors between the snowmobile area and the interior <br />anfinished space <br />~telete the public report room <br /> <br />There have als0 been suggestions to: <br /> <br /> 1) relocate locker room doors <br /> ~nake an intoxilizer room from the unisex bathroom <br /> move the workstation door <br /> <br />The most con~oversial issue has been the public report room. While it would, in fact, be <br />nice to have, t~e Chief doesn't feel it would be used even as much as once a day and <br />alternatives ex~st elsewhere in the building. It also impacts the clerical area. Therefore, <br />unless Council idisagrees, it will be deleted as noted above. The Chief also doesn't believe <br />we will be mal~ng the personnel/equipment/operations investment to justify the intoxilizer <br />room. The door locations will be worked out in final design. <br /> <br />I have been talking with design-build finns regarding our process. As part of a design- <br />build with no amendments in the plan beyond code compliance, the <br />architectural/e~:gineering will be under $15,000. At this time, we could bid out the project <br />with those fees:included or we could complete the construction floor plans and bid those <br />out. The first would be publicly bid. The second option would result in us receiving <br />service proposals, completing that phase and bidding that. <br /> <br /> <br />
