I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

September 12, 1;995

City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W.
Ramsey, MN 55303

Re: Snowmobiling in Ramsey

I was out of town and therefore unable to attend the snowmobile committee meeting on
August 28. I ha~e not read the minutes from that meeting, however, I do want to
reaffirm my thoughts on the subject.
We are very mu~h in favor of creating snowmobile trails in the city, if in fact, we have to
allow snowmobiling here. These trails should not include boulevards in residential areas
or farmers fields~ If the homeowners and farmers, etc. are responsible for the care and
upkeep of this p.~rt of our property please tell us why we should have to endure the
expense every year of replanting grass, bushes, etc. and the repair of driveways so the
snowmobilers C~rn come back next year and d° the same damage all over again. Are we
at all interested In the beauty of our city? Is the mission of the city to make Ramsey a
pleasant place for all of its residents or is the city only interested in making the
snowmobilers happy? We personally have cuts in our driveway, which is only two years
old, and the grass does not come back on the boulevard the way it does on the rest of
the lawn. Mr. Pe~arson loses thousands of dollars because of the snowmobilers and tell
me, what aboutlthe safety of the children that like to make snow forts, etc. and play in
their own yard. What will the city do if a child is seriously injured, or worse, because of
the snowmobile~-s racing across the boulevard? I pray to God that never happens.
We will do whal~ever we can to help establish trails if that is the wish of ali the people in
Ramsey, however, until that is accomplished we would like to know what we can do to
keep the snowmobilers off of our property unless of course there is a fund available for
driveway and lawn repair and crop damage, however there would never be a fund large
enough to repaii' or replace a child.
Thank you for your consideration and I will keep in touch. If there is another meeting I
do wish to be nOtified.

M ickey Ada ms
5335 180th Ave. N.W.
Ramsey, MN 55303
