I ! I I I I I I I I I i I I I I I I Based upon the discussion, the Commission decided to review the event when requesting bids in March 1996 for the 1996 event. Case #2: Business Visitations The EDC began a business visitation program during the winter and spring of 1995. This program was very success~l by inlxoducing the Commission to new businesses and preventing the feelings of isolation from the City that have been experienced in the past. It is anticipated that these visits will begin during fl~is fall. At this time, w,e should choose a day that would work as the visitation day based upon th~ Commission members schedules. Chairperson Wagg~ er, Commissioners McGhee and Staflci said, that with a week's notice, they could be available most any time. Commissioner Ullen said that she is also available most times; however, her availability will be limited later in the ~vinter. Commissioners Nelson and Kent explained that they would be available depending upon their work schedules. It was the general ,consensus of the EDC to continue scheduling visitations on Thursday mornings with two to three r~presentatives from the City. Commissioner Ullen asked how long the visits usually take. Chairperson Wage, er stated that they last about 30 minutes, but may take longer if the owners want to give you a tour or are very talkative. Commissioner stafki said that the longest one he could remember was with Simpson's Glass, as they had other concerns about issues in the City. It was the consensus of the EDC that the visitations should begin in the next two to three weeks, with Mr. Gromberg arranging the schedule. Case #3: Commission Vacancy At the last meeting of the EDC, Chairperson Wagner directed Mr. Gromberg to contact all of the members that ha~e recently had some attendance problems. Based on these discussions, Mr. Marquart has deci~led to resign from the EDC. As the case states, Mr. Marquart's job has changed and he will be on a second shift for the foreseeable future. Motion by Commissioner Nelson and Seconded by Commissioner Stafki to accept Mr. Marquart's resignation from flae Economic Development Commission and to direct City Staff to take the required steps to fi~l the Vacancy. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Wagner, Commissioners Nelson, Kent, Stafki, McGhee and Ullen. Voting No: None. Absent: Comrnissioner Marquart.
