STRUCTURE; CASE OF AMCOR PRECAST ~ By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik Background: * Amcor Prccast, a ~vision of Oldcastl¢ Pre. cast, Inc., has submitted an application for an interim use permit to placeia 1,440 square foot modular office structure at 6640 Industry Avenue N.W. The following itena~ are enclosed for your information: a) Site!location map b) Letl~ of application and Site plan c) Prol~bosed findings of fact d) Proposed interim use permit Notification: State law requircs~ notification of thc public hearing to parcels within 350 feet of the subject property. Staff scott notification to parcels within 500 feet of the subject property. The Planning Commission cond~ficted the public hearing on November 9 and there were no verbal or written comments submittal pertaining to the request. Observations: Amcor is currentl~ leasing a portion of the subject property from Royal Concrete and they are requesting the use~f a temporary office for a 3 year period while they assess their building space needs and develop ~a plan for permanent occupancy at this address. The City has previously granted permits for temporary structures in the commercial and industrial areas. Waste Mar~agement's permit for a temporary office structure was issued to be in effect as long as it took for[their final vertical expansion (3 years with 4 six month extensions available). Listul's permit wadi granted for a one year period while they devel,o_ped plans to expand or reIocate in Ramsey; they h~ve received a one year extension. The School s permit was issued for a 2 year period to allow fin~e to construct the addition to Ramsey Elementary. Recommendation: City Staff and the~lanning Commission recommend issuance of the permit for 18 months, with Council approval x~quired for any extensions beyond that time frame.
