Council authorized the development of the Ramsey Business Newsletter. Case g2: !Ramsey Business Expo and Business Appreciation Day Recap Chairperson V~,agner reported that, based upon the success of the Business Expo and the Business App .r/~ciation Day, the Commission is able to present a check to the Council in the amount, of $7 ~3. This amount, reflects. . the funds remaining from. the Business Expo donauon and f~om the Business Apprecmuon Day. The breakdown is as follows: $494.49 from the Expoiand $218.51 from the Business Appreciation Day. Mayor Hardin ~nquired if the EDC was satisfied with the results of combining the Business Expo with the Lions Community Picnic. Mr. Grombergireplied that it worked well combining it as there was a better turnout. Chairperson Wtagner pointed out that the EDC had a lot of trouble getting people to sign up to participate ~ the Expo. Them was a lot of people at the picnic but not a lot of business displays. Commission~Kent suggested that the perception of a "tent" was a concern to people until they saw how !argo it was. He felt that there would be mom participation next year. Commissione~ Ullen proposed incorporating into next year's brochures, some of the photographs t,~ken at this year's event. Case #3: !Items for Discussion A ) Futur, B ) Open C) Mark~ Chairperson ¥ ~ Issues to be Addressed by the EDC House for Businesses at City Hall and Quarterly Luncheon :ting Plan for City Property /agner asked Council for direction on future issues to be addressed by the EDC. He ask{,~l "where do you see us. We are not always sure we are doing what the City Council wants, us to do. We would like to see more direction as far as what it is you want us to be doing". Councilmeml~'~r Peterson suggested that one of the things Council has talked about is that the Fire Dep~ment would like to become more knowledgeable about businesses, especially in dealing with hazardous materials. A good relationship between businesses and the Fire D~partment should be' encouraged as that could result in better service. Mr. Schroede~ explained that, up to this point, the Fire Department has been getting into businesses asithey have the opportunity. With new businesses, when the certificate of occupancy is ltiven, notice of that goes to the Fire Chief and the Police Chief. Councilmembc"r Beyer added that the Fire Department is also looking at some software to have all the i~ormation in their computer such as the facility layout, who the key holders are, etc. Consensus wa~ that this issue needs to be addressed.
