t <br /> <br />FEDERAL OMNIBUS TRANSPORTATION EMPLOYEE <br />TESTING ACT <br /> POST-ACCIDENT TESTING PROCEDURE <br /> <br />If a City driver is involved in an accident while driving a Class A or Class B City <br />vehicle, the driver must report for alcohol testing within two (2) hours of the accident <br />and controlled substance testing within thirty-two (32) hours of the accident under the <br />following circumstances: <br /> <br />If the accident involved the loss of human life, or <br /> <br />If the City driver received a citation and there was either serious bodily <br />injury needing immediate medical treatment or one or more vehicles must <br />be towed as a result of the accident. <br /> <br />Drivers should Immediately notify local police, their supervisors and, if needed, <br />emergency medical personnel of the accident. The driver shall then be taken to <br />the Brooklyn. Park Medical Center at 5805 74th Avenue North (off Unity Avenue or <br />74th), just behind the Village North Shopping Center as soon as practicable for both <br />alcohol and controlled substance testing. <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> ! <br />I, <br /> <br />A driver who is subject to post-accident.testing shall remain readily available <br />for such testing or may be deemed by the City to have refused to submitted to <br />testing. <br /> <br />Alcohol Testin.q. The driver shall report for alcohol testing, to the Brooklyn Park <br />Medical Oenter within two (2) hours following th:: accident. The City shall prepare <br />and maintain on file a record stating the reasons that'the test was not administered. <br />If the driver does not report for testing within eight (8) hours following the accident, <br />the Oity shall cease attempts to administer the test and shall prepare and maintain <br />the same record. No driver shall use alcohol for 8 hours' following the accident <br />or until the driver undergoes the post-accident alcohol test. <br /> <br />Controlled Substance Testinq. The driver shall report for controlled substance testing <br />to the Brooklyn Park Medical Center within thirty-two (32) hours following an accident. <br />if the driver does not report for testing within 32 hours, the City shall cease attempts <br />to administer the test and shall prepare and maintain on file ~ record stating the <br />reasons the test was not promptly administered. <br /> <br />Accident Notification Procedure. Drivers should also refer to their department policy <br />regarding motor vehicle accidents. <br /> <br /> <br />
