CASE #3

By: James D.
Background:

BUSINESS VISITATIONS
Gromberg, Economic Development

Coordinator

Now that the City has become more involved in the encouragement of businesses relocating and
existing businesses to expand the Economic Development Commission should start to plan on
visiting the businesses on a regular basis. At this time, the Commission may want to start by
visiting the new businesses located in the Ramsey Business Park (Sharp Building). This will
allow the CommisSion members to experience visitations prior to having to deal with businesses
that have develope2i a less than positive attitude toward the City.

With this general "game plan", I have enclosed the letters from the City Council that were recently
sent to these new ~lasinesses highlighting some of the events and opportunities offered businesses
in the City. This latter should provide us with a start when we begin our meeting. The group from
the Commission should include two or three persons as we do not want the businesses to feel
overwhelmed. I wbuld greatly appreciate getting a regular schedule so that the meetings could be
set up ahead of timie~. The meeting would generally be scheduled for later in the afternoon to limit
the problems with work schedules.

Commission Action:

Based upon discusaion, the Commission members should each identify times and days of the week
that fit their schedules to start scheduling the business visitations.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
Economic Development Coordinator

F~DC:292/95

7
