CASE #1 RAMSEY BUSINESS EXPO By: James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator Background: As discussed in the past, the 1995 Expo will be conducted as a part of the Ramsey Lions Community Picnic. The Vice Chairperson of the Expo, Allan Stafki, attended the Lions planning meeting for the t~icnic on February 27, 1995. Based upon this meeting, these two events will be combined, with ~e, Expo area being located on the first diamond (where the bingo tent was last year). For this y0ar s event, the City (EDC) will need to provide the following: 1) Tent for booths 3) 2) Possibly additional entertainment 4) Power generator Funding for two satellite toilets What we do not have to provide this year is: 1 ) Food 4) 2) Publio address systems 5) 3) A majority of the advertising All of the entertainment Staging for entertainment The Lions have indicated that the following schedule will be used for the picnic event: 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. 11:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Softball Tournament Concession sales 1 Kilometer walk/run Free kids food Rides The Lions have indicated that in past years, the biggest attendance occurs during the 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. time period. When planning the Expo, we may want to consider a 12:00 to 6:00 or 1:00 to 6:00 time peridd. In addition to determining the length of time for the event, we will need to decide how to arrange the booths in the exposition area, the cost and number of booths that we would like to have available, and what, if any, additional entertainment we would be interested in pursuing (such as the old time band, Jazzercize, and T-Rex from the Vikings). I have also enclosed for your review a draft copy of the flyer for this year's Expo. Commission Action: Based upon discussion, the Commission will need to develop the parameters of this year's Expo.
