CASE # 4 AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF 2-1/2 ToN~TRuCK CAB AND CHASSIS AND ADVERTISE ',FOR BIDS FOR DUMP BOX, SNOW PLOW, WING AND SANDER By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer Background: Included in the 1995 Adopted General Fund Budget is $75,000 for the purchase of a 2-1/2 ton truck, equipped 3vith dump box, snow plow, wing and sander. This purchase is a replacement for unit #607, a 198~2, 2-1/2 ton Ford with approximately 45,000 miles. As members of the Hennepin County Purchasing Cooperative, we have the opportunity to purchase equipment through contracts already subjected to the statutory bidding laws, eliminating the need to go through the bidding process ourselves. Truck Cab and Chassis: The Hennepin County Purchasing Cooperative let bids for heavy trucks for 1995 and Lakeland Ford received t~e award. Lakeland Ford's bid, which meets the City's specifications for a 2-1/2 ton truck cab and chassis, is $41,903, plus sales tax and license. This amount is well within the budget establish~ for 1995. [Specifications attached] Dump Box, SnoW Plow, Wing and ~an..der: The Hennepin County Purchasing Cooperative did not let bids for the equipment the City is requiring for thig new truck; therefore, it is necessary for the City to go through the advertisement of bids for the dump box, snow plow, wing and sander. [Specifications attached] Staff Recommendation: Committee apprO~val of the purchase of a 2-1/2 ton truck cab and chassis from Lakeland Ford at a price not to exceed $41,903, plus tax and license, and approv,51 of the advertisement of bids for the purchase of dump box, snow plow, wing and sander as equipment for a new 2-1/2 ton truck cab and chassis. Committee Action: Motion to recommend Council approve and adopt Resolution Authorizing Purchase of 2-1/2 Ton Truck Cab and Chassis and Authorization to Advertise for Bids for Dump Box, Snow Plow, Wing and Sander.
