CASE # ~ AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF 3/4 TON 4X4 TRUCK WITH SNOW PLOW By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer Background: Included in the t995 Adopted Enterprise Funds Budgets is $22,000.00 for the purchase of a 3/4 ton truck equipped with a snow plow. This purchase is a replacement for unit #614, a 1985 Chevrolet utilityltruck with approximately 82,000 miles. This vehicle was purchased used by the City in 1988, for!S10,090.45, and is fully depreciated. As members or,the Hennepin County Purchasing Cooperative, we have the opportunity to purchase equipment through contracts already subjected to the statutory bidding laws, eliminating the need to go through the bidding process ourselves. 3/4 Ton 4X4 Tru~k: The Hennepin County Purchasing Cooperative let bids for light trucks for 1995 and Superior Ford received the awed. Superior Ford's bid, which meets the City's specifications for a 3/4 ton 4X4 truck, is $17,107t00, plus sales tax and license. This amount is within the budget established for 1995. [Specificatl~ons attached] Snow Plow: The Hennepin C~unty Purchasing Cooperative awarded bids to Superior Ford for the snow plow equipment the C,rjtY is requiring for this new truck. This equipment does not meet the City's specifications, thOrefore quotes were requested from several vendors and Crysteel provided a quote of $3,550.00, plu~ sales tax, for an 8 2 snow plow. Staff Recomm0ndation: Committee appro.,val of the purchase of a 3/4 ton 4X4 truck ..T-rom Superior Ford at a price not to exceed $17,107.00 plus tax and license, and approval of the purchase of an 8' 2" snow plow from Crysteel at a price not-to-exceed $3,550.00 plus sales tax. Committee Action: Motion to recommend Council approve and adopt Resolution Authorizing Purchase of 3/4 Ton 4X4 Truck Snow Plow.
