Voting No: None. <br /> <br />The public heating adjourned at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Public Heari~ <br /> <br />Improvement Project ~5-10 - Countryside Estates <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin ~alled the public hearing to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />Steve Volna, 8~650 - 176th Avenue N.W., Ramsey, stated he would like to know what's <br />involved in a bituminous overlay and added that he lives on a comer Io~. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski~explained the overlay process. <br /> <br />Mr. Volna expgessed concern because he just put in a concrete driveway. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski istated that the Contractor would feather the bituminous in that area. <br /> <br />Mr. Volna inqaired if his street would have to be sealed again in five years. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski ~replied that it should be as it gives a good seal and protects the street. <br /> <br />Mr. Volna statq, xt he does not see a great need for an overlay. He felt the condition of the <br />road could be d~ealt with by using oil and pea rock. <br />Mr. Jankowskiistated that this road is 15 years old and has not been done. He explained <br />there are some ~lligatoring cracks and an overlay will add strength to the road. <br /> <br />Mr. Volna stat~l as long as they had 60 days to petition against, he was planning to discuss <br />this with his neighbors. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski Offered to meet with Mr. Volna and his neighbors to look over the street. <br /> <br />Jay Nordquist, ~8855 - 176th Avenue N.W., Ramsey inquired how much more ruin would <br />happen to the r6ad if it were not overlayed. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski istated that without maintenance, it may become necessary to reconstruct the <br />entire road. Heiexplained how costly reconstruction could be. <br /> <br />Mr. Nordquist inquired who actually looked at the road to determine what had to be done. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski istated he inspected it as well as the Street Supervisor and the City's intern. <br />All who inspected it came up with the conclusion that it was below the line for just sealing <br />it. <br /> <br />Beth Mitchell, ~8500 - 176th, .Lane N.W., Ramsey, stated she didn't feel the street needed <br />overlay and wanted to know what her options are. She also inquired how long a road <br />should last. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski ~'eplied that with proper maintenance, a road should last about 25 years. <br /> <br /> City Council/February 14, 1995 <br /> i Page 9 of 20 <br /> <br /> <br />
