Mission statement ~d personnel functions. <br /> <br /> The mission of tile Ramsey Parks and Recreation Commission and its personnel is to provide a balanced system of <br />recreational spaces and ol~portunities for all Ramsey residents, regardless of age, ability, or interests. This balance attempt to <br />take future recreational, educational, and conservation needs into account. Ramsey's significant natural resources shall be <br />preserved and protected to the extent possible and necessary for community interests and needs, through the continuous <br />dedication of parks, trails, :and preservation areas. The mission of the Parks and Recreation Commission shall be pursued and <br />administered in a cost-ef~feCtive manner. Additionally, it is t~sion of the Commission and personnel to keep all <br />programs and properties in well maintained and safe condition. <br /> <br />2B.2. Role of the Ramsey~ Park and Recreation Con~~ Advisors <br /> The Park and Redreation Commission plays a'~i~fiificant role in preservation and establishment of recreational <br /> <br />systems as well as insuring that spaces for these programs are adequate to meet the general public needs. This is a process by <br /> <br />which recreational lands iS coordinated, expanded, and improved through continual evaluation of community interests and <br />needs. The Park and Rec rreation Commission serves to advise and ratify proposals which must be voted on by the City <br />Counsil before they may be implemented. <br /> <br /> It is extremely important that the Commission remain aware of community interests and needs in order to develop <br /> <br />the best course of action..For effective long range community planning, close contact must be kept between the <br />Commission and all the oiher city agencies (for example, Planning Commission and City Council). <br /> <br /> Specific responsibilities of the Commission should include: <br /> o Establishing ol~jectives and recommending administrative responsibilities. <br /> <br />o Determining ~sglecific recommendations toward implementation of objectives. <br /> <br />o Coordinating efforts of the Commission with other city agencies and interdepartmental review of objectives and <br /> <br />proposals. <br /> <br /> o Selecting new members for service on the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />Selection criteria should .cgnsider whether candidates are representative of current community interests in parks and recreation. <br /> <br />Additionally, Commission members should include representatives from as many different recreation districts as possible. A <br />candiclate's interest in the gommunity must outweigh private or employment interests regarding the city's recreational system <br /> <br />planning and needs. <br /> <br /> <br />
