A central goal of the City of Ramsey Parks and Recreation Commission is to provide a <br />balance of open spaces and recreational opportunities, not only geographically, but also across a <br />wide variety of ages, abilities, and interests. This goal must also extend across time, providing <br />balance for not only present but also future physical and psychological needs and desires of the <br />community. Inasmuch as it provides balance, the recreational system should be used to help guide <br />future city development and growth. <br /> <br /> With these objectives in mind, the following policy statements can be made: <br /> <br /> 1. Acquisition and maintenance of open space ~ continue shaping and balancing future <br /> <br />developments. <br /> ~1{ <br />2. Developers ~,~.11 be required to include street landscaping consistent with the City Council's <br /> <br />plans and directives. <br /> <br />3. The Parks and Recreation Commission I work to acquire scenic and pedestrian easements <br />along significant natural resources such as wetlands, rivers, or streams. <br /> <br />4. Developers ~ required to dedicate conservation or recreational lands to the city according <br />to city ordinance and plan. <br />5. The Recreation and Parks department r~l continue with planting programs in parcels where <br /> <br />vegetation is lacking. <br /> will <br />6. Focus ~ be on developing trails with access between residential areas and open spaces. <br /> <br />7. Trail types ~ defined to accommodate a variety of use~. <br /> .4' ~o4' <br />8. Property owners s~ encouraged to maintain the natural character of their respective <br /> <br />properties. <br /> <br />Comprehensive ,and Balanqed .Trail System od' ~ <br /> <br />Of equal importance to the Commission is the development of a comprehensive and <br /> <br />balanced trail system. Ramsey residents continue to express an overwhelming desire for trail <br /> <br /> <br />
