Absent: Chairperson Nixt, Board Members Reeve. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS/BOARD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Re~luest for a Variance to Side Yard Setbacks for an Accessory Structure; <br />C~se of Bradley Spleiss <br /> <br />Public Hearing and Presentation <br /> <br />Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik advised that the City received an application for <br />a variance to the side yard setback for an accessory structure. She indicated the side yard setback <br />for an accessory Structure is ten feet, and the applicant is proposing to construct an accessory <br />structure six and a half feet from the side property line in an effort to preserve mature oak trees <br />on the property. <br /> <br />Bradley Spleiss, applicant, indicated when figuring the path for bringing a vehicle and trailer <br />back to the buildi¢g, it would only leave six feet between the building and the next tree over if he <br />built it at the 10 foot setback, which would restrict access to the building. He stated his lot has a <br />lot of oak trees, and he specifically picked this spot because there is a lot of shade, and nothing <br />will grow them. He noted he also wanted to keep the building back from the road. <br /> <br />Board Member Van Scoy asked what structures the neighbor has on his lot. Mr. Spleiss stated a <br />small shed; 7 by 10 or so. <br /> <br />Adjourn Public Hearing <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Board Member Johnson to close the public hearing at <br />7:07 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
