City Engineer Himmer responded the easement area shown is large, this is an isolated area. <br />Councilmember Wise asked would it increase the amount of water in there and if this would <br />change any drainage pattern. <br />City Engineer Himmer reviewed that it wouldn't because the outlet is buried. <br />Mr. Brent commented to the discussion of water problems is only temporarily with a decent rain, <br />because it is very sandy. <br />Councilmember McGlone asked about the water elevations. <br />City Engineer Himmer stated today the water does not impact the low lying area adjacent to his <br />property. <br />Consensus is to put this on the next available works session agenda for further discussion. <br />4.2: Consider Award of Contract for City Improvement Projects 11-01 through 11-06, <br />2011 Street Maintenance Program <br />City Engineer Himmer reviewed the staff report. <br />Public Works Director Olson wanted to comment from the staff report that staff was concerned <br />when only one bid was received for Division B, so staff took the opportunity to talk to the paving <br />company, and they responded the state shutdown was affecting this and people are afraid to bid. <br />Mayor Ramsey stated that is the point, did we not get the best price because everyone is afraid to <br />bid. <br />Public Works Director Olson responded, this could be, the State could come back, and they <br />would have so much work, and they would say now we know what we have for workload, we are <br />going to bid, but we are going to bid high. <br />Motion by Councilmember McGlone, seconded by Councilmember Tossey, to approve <br />Resolution #11-07-129A awarding contract for City Improvement Projects 11-01 through 11-06 <br />to Astech for Division A in the amount of $288,937.40 and North Valley Paving for Division B <br />in the amount of $276,664.34. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Ramsey, Councilmembers McGlone, Tossey, Backous, <br />Elvig, and Wise. Voting No: None.
