Mayor Ramsey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #10- 12 -258A RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION AND RECOGNITION OF ANOKA COUNTY COMMISSIONER DENNIS BERG'S YEARS OF SERVICE WHEREAS, Dennis Berg was elected as Anoka County Commissioner and began serving District 1 in 1991; and WHEREAS, Anoka County Commissioner Berg has decided to retire effective January, 2011; and WHEREAS, Commissioner Berg has been a public servant for 37+ years, beginning with his election on the Burns Township Board of Supervisors in 1973; and WHEREAS, Commissioner Berg has worked these many years to make government responsible and responsive to his constituency; and WHEREAS, Commissioner Berg's record of public service also includes time in the U.S. Army, including one year in Vietnam where he served as a squad leader. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for that service; and WHEREAS, besides excellent service to the City of Ramsey, Commissioner Berg has been active in many organizations at the local, state and national levels, such as: Vietnam Veterans of America (Anoka Chapter), American Legion, Anoka County Regional Railroad Authority, Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, MetroGIS Policy Board, Metropolitan Council Transportation Advisory Board, Minnesota Board of Government Innovation & Cooperation, Small Business Management Advisory Committee B Anoka Technical College, Minnesota Extension Committee, Family Life and Mental Health Center, Association of Minnesota Counties, Association of Minnesota Counties Transportation and Agriculture Policy Committee, Minnesota Transportation Alliance, Joint Law Enforcement Council, Anoka County Juvenile Center Advisory Board, Anoka County Law Library Board of Trustees, Anoka County Historical Society, Northwestern Anoka County Community Consortium, Anoka County Wetlands Review Committee, Ag Preservations Credit Ad hoc Committee, Anoka County Committee on Architectural Plans, Anoka County Community Corrections Advisory Board, Anoka County Intergovernmental & Community Relations Committee, Anoka County Management Committee, Anoka County Public Works Committee, Special Committee of the Anoka County Board (Landfill Closure), Anoka County Web Oversight Committee, Association of Minnesota Counties as a delegate, and the Finance & Capital Improvements Committee. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: Resolution #10 -12 -258A Page 1 of 2
