Councilmember Kurak introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #03-05-113 RESOLTUION TO ACCEPT RESIGNATION OF PATROL OFFICER AND AUTHORIZE HIRING OF PATROL OFFICER WHEREAS, On April 25, 2003 Officer Greg Sullivan submitted a letter of resignation effective May 9, 2003; and WHEREAS, Staff is requesting authorization to fill the Patrol Officer position left vacant by Mr. Sullivan's resignation; and WHEREAS, in November 2002 the City conducted a recruitment process for a Patrol Officer; and WHEREAS, in this time of significant budget constraints staff would like to maximize the investment of time and money that were dedicated to the most recent recruitment process; and WHEREAS, the most recent recruitment process revealed a very qualified candidate, Ryan Law, who continues to be interested in working for the City as a Patrol Officer. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, Confirms the recommendation of the Personnel Committee to do the following: 1) Accept Greg Sullivan's resignation from his position as Patrol Officer with the City of Ramsey. 2) Hire Ryan Law as a Patrol Officer at $42,455 annually. All other personnel polices will apply no~xnally. This appointment is contingent upon a satisfactory pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen. Mr. Law would begin employment with the City on or near May [9, 2003. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Elvig, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec Councilmember Kurak Councilmember Elvig Councilmember Cook Counci hnember Pearson Councilmember Strommen Counciimernber Zimmerman
