Councilmember Wise introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #11 -06 -121 <br />A RESOLUTION RENAMING A PUBLIC PARK WITHIN THE CENTER OF RAMSEY <br />WHEREAS, access to parks, natural resources, open space and recreation areas, are <br />essential to the quality of life, health and welfare of the City of Ramsey, and <br />WHEREAS, municipal park systems play an ever - important role in providing a <br />diversity of needed recreational opportunities to individuals and families; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey's COR, with its parks, trails and public spaces provide <br />the connected and vibrant fabric that are also key to continued economic vitality; and <br />WHEREAS, one of these parks adjacent to The Draw will have a parking lot that will <br />serve the amphitheater and having one name for the adjoining parks within the COR eliminates <br />confusion and simplifies signage and wayfinding; and <br />WHEREAS, this park with it amenities and centralized location will be an important <br />attraction and destination; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, <br />ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That, the City of Ramsey hereby renames the park area north of 145 Avenue and west of <br />Peridot Street from being formerly known as `Rhinestone Commons" to The Draw. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Backous upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Wise <br />Councilmember Backous <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Tossey <br />and the following voted against the same. <br />none <br />and the following abstained: <br />none <br />and the following were absent: <br />RESOLUTION #11 -08 -121 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
