CASE REQUEST F AN EXTENSION TO CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR HOME OCCUPATION; CASE OF STEVEN HAIGH By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik Background:! On November 27, 1990, the City of Ramsey issued a conditional use permit for a home occupation to Steven Haigl~ for the purpose of establishing a trophy/plaque business in his residence at 14151 Germanium S~eet N.W. In an effort to encourage eventual relocation of the business to a commercial dis~ct, the conditional use permit was written with a 3 year expiration period under the provisions 6f Section 9.03.04 (Conditional Use Permits). Mr. Haigh's conditional use perm/t expired on December 31, 1993. Observations~ On January 1 t,~ 1994, the City of Ramsey received a written request from Steven Haigh for a 3 year extensionlto the conditional use permit. Mr. Haigh explains that he has invested in computerized e~tuipment and is not in a financial position at this time to relocate the business to a commercial zong. In the 3 years thiat Mr. Haigh's conditional use permit has been in effect, the City. has received no written or verba~ complaints about the business activities at 14151 German/urn Street N.W. ; The Planning C4ommission conducted a public hearing on February 1, 1994 regarding the request for extension ang there were no written or verbal comments ~ubrn/tted. Recommendat~ion: The Planning C ,~mmission and City Staff recommend approval of the 3 year extension. Council} Action: Motion tO: Approve~deny a 3 year extension to December 31, 1996 for the conditional use permit for a home occupation issued to Steven Haigh at 14151 Germanium Street N.W.
