New Public ~A/orks facility is attached to City Hall. <br /> <br />Advantages <br /> <br />1. Efficient and ~functional Police addition with Police operations on the upper <br /> level and the!squad garage and evidence/property storage on the lower level. <br /> <br />Optimum public service location for the Police Department and on the upper <br />level of City ~all. <br /> <br />Both the Poli~e, Fire, and Public Works expansions can be accomplished with <br />minimal disruption to City Hall. <br /> <br />Relocation ofi Planning, Engineering, and Inspections to the Public Works <br />Facility will f~ee-up area in lower level City Hall for conference and meeting <br />space. <br /> <br />Land use andi site size will accommodate Public Works in a new facility.and <br />provide adequate vehicle and equipment storage, maintenance, and support <br />areas. ; <br /> <br />Site plan COnr.Cept provide direct access to Public Works administration from the <br />City Hall lobbly. The vehicular activity, fueling, and outside storage are <br />screened frorh view from the general entering City Hall. <br /> <br />Site plan concept locates all faciliW development to the south half of the site, <br />allowing grea~er potential future development in the northern quadrants. <br />Site development costs for the Pubiic Works facility are reduced. <br /> <br />Disadvantages <br /> <br />The relocatior~ of Planning, Engineering, and InspectiOns to the Public Works <br />facility lessen~ the proximity to other City Hall departments and access to the <br />public. <br /> <br />Police must relocate during the construction phase'.. <br /> <br />The scale of l~his city complex (City Hall, Police, Fire'.and Public Works) may be <br />inappropriate ~nd limit future development and expansion. <br /> <br />//5 <br /> <br /> <br />
