Consequently, the
playground ecruipment for Solstice Park should focus on the needs of children
2-5 years old, with any future expansion focusing on children in the six and up
age group.

For our discussion, we used the catalog provided by Landscape Structures, Inc.,
and referred tc Item #9333 on pages 50-51. This particular unit was within the
price range and gave us a starling point from which to add and delete items.
The residents really liked this set up and decided that 2-3 different types of
slides of varyi~)g heights are an absolute priority. Their preference is that one or
two of the slid~)s be 72" high and involve some element of excitement such as a
tube, corkscreW, or wave. The other slide should be a 36" high double (side-by-
side) slide.

With regard toipanels and peripherals, the consensus in preferential order, was
for talk tubes, a steering wheel, and a ball maze (page 62).

The residents also wanted the Commission to know that if there is any future
expansion to t~e play equipment, they would like tunnels added. Perhaps a
connection between the two phases.

8121 10th Avenue iNorth., Golden Valley, MN 55427 (612) 545-5757 FAX (612) 545-8207

151
