The City is propol~ing to recover the cost of the installation and operation and maintenance of the
six subdivision s~eet lights by charging a monthly amount o£ $4.$$. This rate was determined to
be adequate to re~over these costs for this particular subdivision lighting project. Future rural
subdivisions will be charged the same rate. The rate will be reviewed periodically, as are all other
charges for City sbrvices, to ensure adequate revenue. Normally, City rates are adopted annually.
We might anticip~tte increases in the rates if operation and maintenance rates are increased to the
City by Anoka El~tri¢ Cooperative. The above monthly charge would be billed quarterly to each
of the benefitted ~roperty owners by Anoka Electric Cooperative as a separate charge on their
utility bill. ~

PRO.IECT SCHEDULE
·
This project is tec~mically feasible. For the project to be implemented, the following activities will
need to take place ~n the projected schedule below.

Hold public hearing ~ May 24, 1994

Citizens m~y offer testimony in regard to the project. This may take the form of statements
for or agaihst the project. Or it may request clarification or modification of any aspect of
the projectlas described in the feasibility report. Upon close of the public hearing, the City
Council ma,'y direct any modification to this feasibility study it deems necessary. This
feasibility ~tudy will become the basis for clef'ming the project. Property owners who may
be oppose~ to the project may submit a petition expressing their opposition. If a petition
signed by ~nore than 50% of the benefitted property owners is presented to the City within
sixty days,bf, the close of the public hearing, the project shall be considered terminated and
a similar pqoject cannot be considered for twelve succeeding months.
City Council to Or~er Project - July 26, I994

Upon the ~]tapse of sixty days from the date of the public hearing, the City Council may, at
its discreti6, n, order the project to be installed.

S~eet Lights Installed - August, 1994
Quarterly Paymen.~ Begin - October, 1994

First billing~ would be prorated based upon date of light installation.

2
