MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />May 13, 1994 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />CC: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />At our May 12 <br />action by the C <br /> <br /> To red <br /> Commi <br /> <br />Ryan Schroecler, City Administrator <br />Kay McAloney, Administrative Services Manager <br />.lira Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission <br /> <br />Size of Economic Development Commission <br /> <br />1994 meeting, a motion was made and duly seconded requesting the following <br />ry Council: <br /> <br />~ce the number of appointed members of the Economic Development <br />:sion from the current nine (9) members to seven (7) members. <br /> <br />The Commissi% is requesting this change for the following masons: <br /> <br />1 ) The Commission has had at least one vacancy for the past six to ten months. <br />2) All fivd members of the Commission must be present to have a quorum present, and this <br /> has eau}ed significant problems in conducting business <br />3) With a ~;maller number, the Commission has been getting more done with shorter meetings, <br /> as the r2mgents which discussions take are more Iimit~. <br />z~) Currenily, only the Charter Commission has more members. Other commissions have <br /> betweefi five (5) and seven (7) members. <br /> <br />The CommissiOn has recently interviewed prospective candidates for the current vacancies and <br />should be making a decision at the next meeting on June 2, 1994. By that date, we will need to <br />know if we s~ould appoint two (2) or four (z~) new members.
