CASE <br /> <br />RECEIVE BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACT FOR <br />THE 1994 STREET MAINTENANCE PROGRAM <br />By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On March 2~, 1994, a public hearing was held on the 1994 Street Maintenance Program. <br />The Council~rdered preparation of plans and specifications on May 24, 1994, following a <br />sixty (60) da~comment period, and authorized bids on June 14, 1994. <br /> <br />This year's p~ogram includes thirteen (13) separate projects which include Improvement <br />Projects g94-01 through g94-14, excluding Improvement Project g94-12. Eleven (11 ) of <br />these projects will consist of a crack sealing operation followed by sealcoating. Two <br />projects involve one-and-one-half inch (t-1/2") bituminous overlays. The City's Public <br />Works Department will repair major defects on all of the projects prior to the contract work <br />being perforrr~ed. <br />This year a single contract document has been prepared for the street program which has <br />been separatex~.l into three major work divisions: (A) crack sealing; (B) sealcoating; and (C) <br />bituminous o~,erlay work. The contract documents specify that these divisions will be <br />awarded in a[manner which results in the lowest overall cost to the City. Bids will be <br />opened at 2:00p.m. on Friday, July 8, 1994.
