Due to an e>:tended sickness oS one of our o!'ficers, commenc~nE on June 25th
and continuing through repo.~t t~me, we have incu~ed s~%y-seven (6)
ho~s of overt~e, to covcr his shifts. The majority of absences have
been t~en care of by ju~ling the shift scbeduie to obtain coverage,
~thout having to use overtime. Considering that this is our most active
t~e of the year, both for not only calls and other incidents ~t also
for personnel vacations I ~ e}~tr~lF pleased %.,~th the i~ovation of
S, gt. Oustafson ~d the patience of the officers.

Through the efforts and dof'gedness of Officer Tim Dr?er several resi-
dential burglaries are in the process of being resolved. A number of
area juveniles have made admissiot]s and this should clear up at least
same of that neigj~borhoodJs problams for a spell.

Officer Jim Way has newly stepped into the office of Investigator and
is proceeding Quite well. He is simultaneously working on a variety
of cases including fe!or4y fraud, pu!itab thefts. (three cases)~ £raudu-
lents checks, a forgery and others.

At the annual Lions picnic this year the police department and the Lions
initiated an officer Collector Card progr~n. The Lions, working through
and with Officer Jim Singewald, have graciously funded a program whereby
each officer in the Ramsey department has a card, similar to a baseball
card, and city youth can collect them.~ If they collect the entire set
and do some community volunteer work (helping senior citizens, etc.)
the)' are eligible for a prize. It is too early to determine how the
kids are responding but it is a promising program. Other cities have
done this a3~~~-good participation.
