W~,~ ~5303

Ryan Schroeder, Cie), Admin~.s~_a~o.-~ ~ ~
Jessie Hart, Finance Conuni%tee Chairperson

subject:

Ramse5, Women of Today
Dso of Community Room

Dear Ryan and Jessie,

I am wr!uing you on behalf of a new community group being formed in
the city of ~amsey. This group is the Women of Today, a community service
and leadership training organization with over 150 chapters in Minnesota,
and chapters im 15 s~ates across the Nation. The Women of Today execute
~any community projects, offer personal enrichmen~ courses, and do programs
in conDunctiOn with several major foundations such as ~arch of Dimes,
Kidney Foundation, Cys%ic Fibrosis, and more.

This group is being extended by %ha'. Anoka Women of Today, a very
stable and lo'Dj-standing chanter. Just a fa%: of %he projects sponsored by
the Anoka chapter each year are the annual Bunny Brunch and Egg Hun% at a
local elementary school, funding 2or an Anoka Youth Athle%ic Association
Softball teamb activities for senior ci%izens, and are leaders in "Toys for
Joy" with the Anoka County Chris%mas Conu~ittee. Dona%ions have been given
%o the local:high school senior party, the city library, books for
Learning Cen~er, F~D, D~E, and a scholarsb, ip for an outstanding high
school student. We are active participants in %he Anoka Chamber of
Commerce, and we work together with the high school u~i!izing s~udent
volunteers. Dsing %he leadership skills gained in the Women of Today, our
members have gone on to be leaders in our organization and in the community
as school board members, coordinators of major community projects, and as
State Staff 'officers for the Women of Today. Our hope is that in
establishing a chap%er in Ramsay, these members will reach out to make
Ramsay a bezt~r place to live.

Unfortunately, we have encountered an obstacle in getting this chapter
off the ground - finding a per, anent meeting location. We need a space for
lO-20 people to meet once a month for a couple cf hours. In searching
throughout Ramsay, it seems that the commun~ity room a~ City Ha!! would be
an ideal location. Bowever, we cannot afford t-ne fee that is charged. We
Cry %o keeo o~.r dues to a minimum,, so that a. nyone can afford to join. Ways
and F~eans pro.jeczs ~.:i!l be done %o cover such items as postage for the
monthly newsile%~er, printing costs, and other expenses. We would be
%~il!ing %0 put do'~n a reasonable deposit, but the mon~h!y fee currently
required woul~ make the use of this roor~ totally unobtainable.
