DATE:
TO:

FROM:

SUBJECT,'

MEMORANDUM

August 2, 1994

Mayor and Councilmembers
Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator
Glyn Huff, Building Official
Steve Lutmer, Building Inspector
Sylvia Frolik, Zoning Administrator
Jessie Hart, Finance Officer
James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinato~ff~
Monthly Building Activity

Attached for your review are the building activity reports for the month of August. The
City issued :.16 new home permits and is currently on track to build a total of 264 new
homes in 1994. This compares to the 302 homes that were projected to be constructed at
the beginnin~g of the year. This would equate to a population increase of approximately 871
new residents for the City.

Also included in the packet is a new report for the commercial/industrial construction
currently o~urring in the City. As the report indicates, the City is currently constructing
28,500 squ .aS-e feet of space with a building permit value of $439,000. These numbers do
not include the Sharp project that we conducted a ground breaking ceremony for on August
30, 1994, w~ich will add over 26,000 square feet. The current trend in fewer new homes
being cons~ucted in the City should be offset by the increase in commercial/industrial
constructioa, which will provide for a geater generation of tax revenues.

If there are ~-ny questions concerning this information, please contact me. As these reports
are complet~:d once a month, some time lag is expected.
