MEMORANDUM

DATE:
TO:

FROM:
i
SUBJECT:

October 5, 1994

Mayor and Councilmembers
Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator
Glyn Huff, Building Official
Steve Lutmer, Building Inspector
Sylvia Frolik, Zoning Administrator
Jessie Hart, Finance Officer
James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinatorc.~/~5)-
Monthly Building Activity for September

Attached fot- your review are the building activity reports for the month of September. The
City issued~r21 new home permits and is currently on track to build a total of 260 new
homes in 1994. This compares to the 302 homes that were projected to be constructed at
the beginninjg of the year. This would equate to a population increase of approximately 892
new residerits for the City. Based upon the population at the end of 1993, the City will
have an esti~nated population of 15,281 residents. This is a 23 percent increase from the
1990 censuS. This growth curve would give the City a total population for the 2000 census
of 22,473 p:eople.

The City is eurrently developing the projections for 1995 for the attached reports. As many
of you are ~ware, it will be estimated that the new home construction will continue at a
somewhat slower rate than was witnessed in 1993 and the first four months of 1994. If
you have an~. suggestions about these projections, please contact me as soon as possible so
that the Octo, ber reports can include these projections ....
