Councilmember Jeffrey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #11 -03 -072 <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REFURBISHMENT OF <br />THE COON RAPIDS DAM <br />WHEREAS, the Coon Rapids Dam is in need of refurbishment and the Coon Rapids <br />Dam Commission (the "Commission ") has made recommendations for its restoration; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission is recommending a major refurbishment of the Dam for a <br />fifty -year or greater life span; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission is recommending work on the dam refurbishment begin as <br />soon as possible, using State Funds to complete the work; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission is recommending keeping the Coon Rapids Regional Dam <br />Commission authorized in Chapter 361, Minnesota Session Laws, 2010 Regular Session in <br />existence for up to 12 months to study and address the issues of governance, ownership, and <br />operation of the dame; and <br />WHEREAS, the refurbishment of the dam should be done in such a manner as to not <br />impeded future installation of hydroelectric power; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission is seeking support of their recommendations. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That the Ramsey City Council supports the recommendations of the Coon Rapids Dam <br />Commission for refurbishment of the Coon Rapids Dam. <br />2) That the City Council believes the work of the Commission has yielded a positive <br />outcome for all involved. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Elvig <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Backous <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Tossey <br />Councilmember Wise <br />
